Storymusic Creations is pleased to partner with Immigrant Services Calgary again this year, with the following performances:
- Immigrant Services Family Literacy Program at the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness: Nov 15, 2017 at 1:30 PM
- Parent and Tot Program at Immigrant Services Calgary (downtown location): Nov 17, 2017 at 10:30 AM
We have completed another story to expand our program: Elk’s Wintry Day. Set to André Jolivet’s Petite Suite, it chronicles the adventures of Little Elk as he follows his herd from one feeding ground to another. The work includes five short, evocative movements in about 13 minutes. We look forward to performing it alongside Salmon and Dipper’s Wondrous Journey, hopefully by Fall 2017 if not sooner!
Many thanks to Jen Thornhill of Immigrant Services Calgary for coordinating another set of preschool performances, this time at Mosaic’s offsite location at 1000 Voices in the Genesis Centre for Community Wellness. Lots of curious youngsters, and grownups too!
Many thanks to Director of Music Wayne Hubbard for hosting us as part of the church’s free noontime concert series! It was a welcoming crowd, and the lunch afterwards was a wonderful treat. Loved the community feel of this event! Nice acoustics too : )
We just got a letter in the mail from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, detailing their acceptance of our grant application for the Nov/Dec 2016 performances, including one more set in Feb 2017 for Immigrant Services Calgary, at their Mosaic Offsite Community Preschool in the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness. We are most grateful for their support!
What an incredibly attentive group of kids! Many thanks to the folks at YWCA for bringing us in amidst the holiday rush.
Thanks to the excellent staff at Heartland for accommodating us in this cozy space! Lots of great energy and curiosity among these children : )
Another wonderful performance opportunity, thanks to everyone at Immigrant Services Calgary! It was a great pleasure to share Salmon and Dipper’s Wondrous Journey with the morning and afternoon preschool classes on November 17, as well as the Parent & Tot class on November 18. Many thanks to the good people of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre as well as the Calgary Instrumental Society for bringing us in to perform! It was a warm and welcoming space, as well as an appreciative audience. The Calgary Instrumental Society will be back at the Centre for some more music making in the coming months as part of Musical Conversations, a project at the Centre and adjacent hospital units. We are ready to go! Here’s a photo taken just after our recording session in the TransAlta Pavilion at Mount Royal University Conservatory on June 23, 2016. Many thanks to Mark Ellestad of Hexagon Studio, Barb Yates of Helen Scott Studios, Olga Cuttell of Oladesign, Doug Grelowski of DAT Media, and the folks of MRU Conservatory for all your hard work in helping us get launched!
